Operation Fitness: Follow Along

I have started to document my day to day fitness on Instagram. If you want to follow along look me up @yoast_fitness. I plan on posting all of my ups and downs as I have a little of both everyday. I will still post updates here on the blog but the day to day meals, exercises and pictures will be on Instagram. Trying to keep myself accountable every day.

Colette: 34 Weeks

34 Weeks
-Loves riding in the grocery cart.
-Follows Amelia around everywhere.
-Saying: Hi, Mom, and Dad
-Started putting her arms up when she wants
to be picked up.
-Gives big sloppy open mouth kisses.

This week Coco was loving taking pictures. I have to share all her out-takes because every picture was cute. She was laughing and yelling the whole time.

This week I have started to realize that Amelia may be done with her naps. Nooooooo...She still takes a 2-3 hour nap every afternoon but bedtime is getting more difficult. I have worked for 6 months to get them napping simultaneously (which they do everyday) so I am a little bummed about the end of nap time. We are doing a trial run today and she has been easy peasy. She didn't even get crabby around her normal nap time. I cherish nap time but I am not a fan of difficult bedtime so we'll see how tonight goes. In the meantime I am trying to come up with quiet activities for us to do while Coco sleeps. Today we did a cute felt banner.

She picked out all the colors and helped me place them on the string. We made it for her room but it looked Eastery to me so I hung it up on the fireplace for the upcoming holiday. She was so proud of it and kept saying, "it's so beautiful". Even though I love nap time it was fun having one on one time with Amelia to work of something together.

Happy Friday!!!

Operation Fitness: Progress

Operation fitness update coming your way. I am going to share some pictures of my postpartum journey this time around. I don't love sharing fact I hate it. I do, however, find that it helps me with my goals to document my journey. Truth is I haven't put the best effort in until this last month. I have pictures from the beginning this time and I still have a loooong way to go.

First I want to share some things that have been helping me this time around:

1. Set goals! Write them down and hold yourself accountable to them everyday. My main goal is to run/walk 400 miles before my 30th birthday. That boils down to 2 miles a day everyday. One step at a time.

2. Drink water. My goal is a gallon a day. I was having a hard time keeping track of my gallon and I hate when water gets cold. I bought a gallon sized jug and a bottle that keeps water cold all day. Every night I fill up the gallon jug and put it in the fridge. Everyday I just have to get through that jug and I know I have met my goal. No thinking involved. Also with my new bottle I always have cold water. No excuses.

3. If you are competitive, make it a competition. Brian is about 40 miles behind me and he bet that he could catch up to me by the end of April. Nothing will get me moving more than someone coming up on my heels. Since we started our mileage competition I have been pushing myself harder every time I get on the treadmill to run.

Those are my tips for now. Those three things seem to be helping me the most at the moment. Now onto the pictures. Only positivity please. Also a warning, I'm in a sports bra.
This first picture was 2 weeks PP. I had lost about 15lbs of 40lbs of baby weight at this point.
This next picture was around 8 weeks PP. I had started doing very little exercise but was eating well. Another 10(ish) lbs down.

Since 8 weeks PP I hadn't really tried or taken pictures. Then I set my goals and started writing it all down on a calendar. I am starting to see some real results. I also mark free days to help if I am having some bad cravings. This gives me something to look forward to.
Taken today, 7 months PP. Sorry the lighting is terrible in my bathroom. This picture is about 8lbs down from the 8 week picture. 5lbs in the last month alone.
Truth is I have a long way to go. I am still 15lbs above my goal weight (5lbs above pre preg weight). It be nice if I was one of those people that weight just fell off.....but I'm not. This time around I am really trying to love the journey instead of just the results.

Happy exercising!

Colette: 33 Weeks & St. Patrick's Day

33 Weeks
-Not quite "crawling" but moving forward.
-Eczema sooo bad. Poor baby.
-Loves all things Amelia. Just adores her.
-Maine maple weekend.
-St. Patrick's Day.
-Sleeping 11 solid hours every night.
-Still puts EVERYTHING in her mouth.
-Yells...a lot.
-Still crying with "strangers"
-Loves bath time and books.
-Started dancing this week with Amelia.

Coco wants to be on the move so bad. Amelia was always content to just sit with toys and hang out. Coco wants to explore everything and really wants to be anywhere Amelia is. I am looking forward to when she can really crawl and walk so the yelling will stop. It's sorta cute at first and then gets a little old when I set her down and she yells and yells until I am back in her sight. Right now she is slowly slowly moving forward. Mostly she just planks and yells.
We celebrated Coco's first St. Patrick's Day this week. By celebrate I mean I added green food coloring to our normal food, called a bowl of oranges a pot of gold, and picked up a box of lucky charms. Amelia really did think it was fun though and put her princess Anna dress on for the leprechaun breakfast.
I indulged a little with my traditional Paddy's day breakfast.
After a failed "green" dinner due to a power outage we ended up picking up some pizza and ending the night with some holiday pictures. Much harder to get a cute pictures these days. Also Amelia's cheese face and fantastic boy hair make for a winning combination. She is darling but I just really want the poor girl's hair to grow. Looks like Colette will have a similar fate, since she is pretty much still bald with a little ginger fuzz on top.

Happy Sunday!

Maine Maple Weekend

We had double the reason to celebrate this weekend. We finally have Brian back Saturdays and it's spring! Okay it might still be snowing but it's officially spring. I am putting all my positive spring loving vibes in the universe in the hopes that it will melt some of the snow.

To kick off spring we went to a local farm to enjoy Maine's maple weekend. All the farms open up for the year and open up their doors to enjoy some fresh from the tree (sorta) pure maple syrup. They also sell maple flavored everything with maple syrup on top. While I was walking around it reminded me of Elf:

Emily: You sure like sugar, huh?
Buddy: Is there sugar in syrup?
Emily: Yes.
Buddy: Then YES! We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup.

Let's get to the pictures. They showed us the syrup making process and poured some fresh warm syrup on the spot. It was so pure and incredibly sweet. One little cup was plenty.
Since we were on a farm they also opened up the barn so we could visit all the animals. Amelia was on cloud nine.
They opened up the gate to pet the horse and her little life was made. She has no fear and immediately asked if she could ride him.
Amelia indulged in a little face painting. She asked for a horse and then sat extremely still and was very serious.
Life made.
I had some maple cotton candy and Brian had a maple donut.
Look at all that snow behind me...
Such a fun way to kick off the new season. We are so happy to be coming out of hibernation.

Happy Spring!

Colette: 32 Weeks & Random Happenings

32 Weeks
-Back to loving food. LOVES veggies.
-Still crawling backward.
-Snow started melting!
-Size 9 month clothes.
-Hair is still red and eyes are looking green.
-I have lost 5.5 lbs since starting operation fitness.

It is looking like Colette may have some food allergies. At this point overripe bananas and avocado make her throw up. Not spit up, full vomit. I also started introducing a lot of new food this week. We tried carrots, summer squash, bread, eggs, and asparagus. She has done well with everything except the eggs. I gave her half a hard boiled egg yolk and a couple hours later I noticed a rash on her stomach. I am hoping she outgrows it. I am going to avoid eggs for a while and give it another try later. I've never had any food allergies or had to deal with anyone that does. Keeping my fingers crossed that her digestive system just needs a little more time and it's nothing more.

On to some fantastic news. The snow is melting! We had the best day this week. The temp got up to around 50* and their was water everywhere. We were able to ditch our coats and play in the puddles for a good 30 minutes. That may sound sad but the appreciation we have for those little moments make it so fun. Having been cooped up for the better part of the year I felt true happiness to be outside playing with Amelia. Having the weather we do up here I never take a good weather day for granted. I have not looked forward to summer this much since our days in Rexburg. I feel like we are going to be fully booked so we don't miss one days of outside time. I have already started to put together our summer bucket list.

On to some more good news. I kicked off operation fitness on March 1st. You can read about that here. With the dirty thirty approaching I need to get myself together and so far I am making progress. 5.5 lbs down in 2 weeks and feeling good. More on this later.

Last bit of randomness is Amelia's new toy. By toy I mean it was a purchase for the whole family but to Amelia it is her new toy. We got a digital piano. Since before Amelia was born Brian always had this vision of Amelia being a piano player. He felt really strongly about it. When we were in the hospital a nurse said, "look at those fingers, she is going to play the piano". Then we bought our first home in Georgia and the previous owners left a piano. And wouldn't you know Amelia loves to play the piano. Sometimes at church Amelia will disappear and we find her in the primary room playing the piano and singing by herself. It was only a matter of time until we got one. Brian found a killer deal on this and I haven't been able to tear Amelia away since. Love it.
Ignore the mess. Anyone that can keep a playroom clean is superhuman.

Happy Friday!

Colette: 7 Months

7 Months
-15lbs & 25.5inches.
-Putting everything in her mouth.
-Still no teeth.
-Having an aversion to food. Anything
over ripe makes her vomit.
-"Crawling" backward.
-Singing along to songs and yelling.
-Starting to unswaddle, one arm out this week.

Colette is still sweet and very sassy. Her personality definitely fits her red hair. She is loud, opinionated, and always on the move. Right now she is pushing herself backward and pivoting so she can get around.
She is my dishwashing buddy. Since dishes are basically all that I do (without a dishwasher) she hangs out at my feet a lot while I wash away. This is also her favorite"waiting for breakfast" position. Look at that face.

Brian has been taking a class all day on Saturdays so we have been spending the day in our pajamas playing, cleaning, and listening to music. I can't wait until we can trade our pajamas for swimsuits and the cleaning for the beach. The girls because they seem to be happy either way.
Telling Coco to say "cheese".
I made Goose get in too. He was clearly thrilled.

When I was taking Coco's weekly picture she kept yelling at Amelia. I took some pictures of the exchange because their interactions are usually really cute.

Happy Weekend!

Operation Fitness

Okay blog readers (all 7 of you), I am back at it. I am 6 months away from 30 and in need of some changes. Big time. If you have read my blog for a while you may remember when I finished Insanity a little over a year ago. Well I have since had another baby and become pretty lackadaisical about my health and fitness. The truth is I actually enjoy working out and I enjoy healthy foods. It shouldn't be that difficult. But it is. So commence Operation Fitness (aka Operation Get My S&*T Together).

I want to share my goals and plans on here to help keep me accountable. Here they are:

- 400 Miles in 6 months: Brian just got me a treadmill because winter is rough and I was going stir crazy. At 400 miles that averages out to about 2 miles every day. I am including running, walking, hiking and all of the above. Just need to keep moving.
-Kicking my caffeine addiction. I am a full blown addict. I can no longer function without it and it is killing me. The headaches's bad. So I am done.
-A gallon of water a day. This will help me with my caffeine addiction too. I also have to drink a lot of water for my kidney stones. The only issue I have with this is the bathroom visits but I am going to power through.
-Weight loss: This goal is secondary. I am trying not to focus on the number.  I thinking that if I make the necessary changes the scale will benefit. I have 10 pounds of baby weight left and I am ready to see it go.
-No fast food/candy/sweets. I do have planned "indulge" days marked on the calendar (about every 12 days) that will allow me those treats. This shouldn't be too hard but it still has to go.
-Post about my progress regularly. When I share my goals it usually kicks my butt in gear out of fear of failing in front of other people.
-Birthday half marathon! I want to celebrate going into my 30's with being fit.

These are my goals for right now. I am sure that I will add more as they become necessary.  I have taken some before pictures that I will share at some point. I can't seem to post them right now. Too embarrassed. Wish me luck!

ps//I am also sleeping in exercise clothes so I am ready first thing in the morning to hop on the treadmill or do 20 minutes of quick body weight exercises.
