Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

Lately I've been bad at snapping picture when we are out and about. I am trying to live a little more in the moment and not behind the camera so...less pictures. I do try and get pictures of our day to day on my phone so I have some of those to share from the last couple months.

With spring and summer comes the best park weather. Amelia digs the park but she mostly just wanders around and makes furry friends.

Speaking of furry friends...
He missed being outside this winter.

We have been hitting up the library for story time this summer.

Amelia has to go to the Dr. with me every couple of weeks. Normally she loves it because the midwives will play along and check her "baby" too. On the day I had the 3 hour glucose test we had a rough time. After hour 3 of being there the tantrums started. Luckily Amelia's tantrums usually consist of her just laying on the floor and not moving. I can't help but laugh.

After almost a year of sharing a car, we finally picked up a new one a couple weeks ago. Yes, it is almost the exact same truck that Brian had but newer and a little bigger. I can't say how happy I am to not have to drive Brian to work and pick him up every time I needed a car.  With a truck came furniture and starting up more projects because we can finally fit everything that we buy. Can't wait to start sharing all the projects we have been working on.

I knew he would be a good dad, but come on that is cute. They adore each other. I would be jealous if I didn't love it so much.

I don't know what took so long but I finally added sauce to her pasta and she has never been happier.

One hot summer day and I was too tired to actually go anywhere so we played with soap/paint in the tub. Sometimes toddlers are that easy to please...sometimes.

This picture was after Amelia fell out the crib and landed on her head. That rug burn turned into a nice bruise.

Now that summer is here we are taking full advantage of the beach. We are lucky enough to live a mile away and try to pop over most days. Amelia was born in California, took her first steps on the beach, and is still a total beach babe. All I have to do is say beach and she is in her room getting her swimsuit and sand bucket and trying to head out the door. She fits right in with us. But really, who doesn't love the beach?

Amelia: 22 Months

22 Months
-Climbed out of her bed (face first).
-Loves taking Goose on walks and going to the beach.
-Starting to speak in sentences, "Where go Mommy?"
-Very girly.
-Excited & happy 95% of the time.
-Loves going to the Dr. with Mom to get her belly/baby checked.
-Loves playing with older kids.
-Loves playing with mom/dad's phones.
-Starting to make the "trouble" face while she does something
she knows she isn't supposed to.

This month was actually hard to pick a picture because she took so many cute ones. Normally it is like pulling teeth to get a couple decent ones but she really hammed it up. Luckily she can also be bribed with some raisins (poor kid doesn't realize those aren't really a treat). She also loves if I use the tripod instead of just snapping the pictures so that always makes her smile a little. Below are all the other pictures, such a fun age.

She looks so tall!

Asking for more raisins.

Love this one.

I also tried to snap a cute pajama picture this morning. She only would sit still if she could sit with all her animals. These days she doesn't really sleep in pajamas because it it 150* in our house at night. I may be exaggerating but I am 80 months pregnant and it's slightly humid. Here is her monthly pajama picture :)

Moving on to Amelia falling out of her crib onto her face. No joke, she fell right on her face. Luckily we had just added a rug to her room so it sort of cushioned her fall. Lately (I think because of teething) she has been waking up earlier than normal. One morning she was up at 6:15 and I was really grouchy about it so I was letting her just hang out for a couple minutes before I got up. I hoped she would fall back asleep so when it got quiet again I was really happy and drifting back to sleep. Then out of her room came the loudest thud. Immediately I knew she fell out and the screaming came pretty quick after the thud. I have never seen Brian jump out of bed so fast. He was horizontal to sprinting in milliseconds. I think I said, "sh*t" because I can't move very fast and was sucked into the bed by a vortex called a pregnancy pillow. When Brian got to her she was just laying there but she was obviously fine. She had a bruise/rug burn on her forehead for a couple of days and was VERY crabby that morning. All in all we were lucky. We were actually able to lower the crib even more but she hasn't tried to climb out again.  We are definitely on the hunt for a new bed. We are gonna jump right up to a twin bed but I am not looking forward to that transition. I was no where near ready for this. I guess I am in for some serious sleep deprivation. At least I will be able to have more caffeine again after the baby comes..I am gonna need it.

We are once again in an age that I love love love. This is also the hardest age so far. I think this is going to keep happening as we keep progressing. I love that she talks to me and she understands so much more. I also love how her sweet little voice tries to say new words and I almost cry every time she says, "hi mama".

Hopefully I am gonna do another post later today with a picture update since I have been so bad about it lately. We'll see! I would much rather sleep these days then do much of anything. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Happy Monday!

ps. Happy July tomorrow!!!!!!

Belly Update: 35 Weeks

.::35 Days To Go::.

35 Weeks
Symptoms: Sciatic pain is back and I am having a lot of trouble sleeping.
Cravings: Sweets...although I can't give in. I think I am gonna have a couple days of eating whatever sweets I want after this baby is born since I have to watch them so closely these last few weeks.
Missing: See above.
Movement: Lots. I think the baby is still head up though because I feel a lot of intense pressure in the same spot on my ribs. Very uncomfortable. We'll find out at my appointment this week about the baby's position. Fingers crossed the baby is moving or has moved on down.
Highlight(s) of the week: First day of Summer! We have being spending a lot of time outside. We even celebrated the summer solstice with a 3 mile walk to the beach.  Luckily we haven't had much heat and I am still feeling good.

These last couple of weeks I have been dealing with gestational diabetes. I will be totally honest and say that it's not all. I take my blood sugar 4x a day and have to count every carb. I def feel the sympathy for anyone that is living with diabetes. I am not taking Insulin because I don't actually have diabetes (I am considered glucose intolerant) so I am borderline. When I decided to have a Dairy Queen blizzard the other night my body felt it and I had a hard time keeping my blood sugar down the next day. It's crazy that my body decides to do this when I get pregnant. For the most part I didn't have to change my diet much, I just had to cut the junk out. I am eating the same things but I just forgo the soda or the ice cream for dessert. If I do get pregnant again I will for sure start the carb watching early on so I don't have to deal with even being borderline. Testing my blood sugar after every meal and counting everything I put in my body has me stressed out. The good news about this whole thing is I have only gained 25lbs. Since I gained 38lbs (total) last time this is a big difference and in the heat of summer I will be happy to gain as little weight as possible.

Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer. Happy Thursday!

Belly Update: 34 Weeks

34 Weeks
Symptoms: Feeling huge this week! I can tell the baby is putting on some fat because my belly is really starting to stick out. I am also up at least twice a night to pee these days.
Cravings: Water. The heat is coming and I feel dehydrated unless I get a good 80 ounces in.
Missing: Clothes that fit. I have a rotation of maybe 5 or 6 things that fit. I can't wait to get back to my normal clothes.
Movement: Still lots of movement. Lately I have been getting woken up in the morning with some major kicks to the ribs. It always startles me awake.
Highlight(s) of the week: Father's Day! We celebrated Brian with him surfing all morning and leaving him alone while he took a nap :) I planned on waking up early to make him breakfast but that guy gets up so early that didn't happen.

Whenever a holiday comes up I always like to look at pictures from the year before for a little nostalgia.  Love that little bald baby. It's so fun to see the changes in just a year. And next year we will have 2 kids!
I snapped another Daddy's girl photo this year for Brian. This year it was much harder getting a picture.
 Love that little cheese face.

Belly Update: 33 Weeks

33 Weeks
Symptoms: Feeling pretty good this week. I get fatigued easily but I am able to maintain a 2 mile walk without much pain. Anything after that and my sciatic wants to kill me and the braxton hicks contractions kick in.
Cravings: Otter pops!
Missing: Caffeine and endurance. With the nice weather around I am missing hiking bad. I don't know that I could do more than 3 miles though and it would have to be relatively flat which is pretty boring. Luckily after the baby comes we will have a couple months of nice weather to get some good non pregnant hikes in.
Movement: Tons and ALL the time. The baby has been giving me serious jabs in the ribs which is surprisingly painful.
Highlight(s) of the week: Summertime weather! We picked up our city beach pass today!

We can officially say I am due next month! We are due on July 31st (Harry Potter's birthday) so I assume the baby will be born in August but we are gonna go with next month to be optimistic. I don't want the baby coming early but I wouldn't mind a couple days before or a due date baby.

Just had my appointment with the diabetes nutritionist. I am feeling less than thrilled that I am in the 4% of women that have insulin producing issues during pregnancy. I am totally committed to doing what I need to (which is counting every carb and testing my blood sugar 4x a day) but I am a little bummed about it. I am a healthy eater so I am bummed that the time in my life when I feel less guilty about indulging...I have to count carbs. I sound like I am throwing a pity party which I totally am but I do know it could be a lot worse. Whatever I have to do to make sure this babe is healthy, I'm in.

Happy Thursday!

Belly Update: 32 Weeks

.::8 Months::.
Does that shirt look familiar??

32 Weeks
Symptoms: Emotional and exhausted. I seem to be taking everything personally these days and napping frequently.
Cravings: Nothing new. Well really nothing at all.
Missing: Having energy. Getting out of bed in the morning is feeling strenuous these days. I am just burnt out.
Movement: Lots of jabs. Amelia was very mellow and would just rotate every so often. This baby gives me a lot of sharp jabs and kicks ALL the time. I am grateful for those kicks though.
Highlight(s) of the week: Back in Maine. Our trip was fantastic but I really missed my snoogle pillow and my Goose. I am sleeping much better now that we are home.

This week I feel like I am sticking out. People are finally feeling comfortable asking me about my pregnancy and not just wondering if I am pregnant. Up until this last week I just got a lot of "is she?" stares. Now people actually mention it and say congrats. I feel like last time it happened earlier than 32 weeks so I busted out the shirt I wore for each week last time and wanted to give it a little comparison.

Rewind to nearly 2 years ago...

Well clearly the weight was going to my face last time. I was also much more tan (working outdoors everyday). The funny thing is that last time I was able to wear pre pregnancy jeans the entire time and I ditched those weeks ago this time. I think I weigh about the same too. I have gained about 23 lbs this time (so far) which is I think the same as last time. I also started 3lbs heavier this time. I think I look smaller this time because I started in better shape. Even though I weighed more I was finishing Insanity at 4 weeks pregnant and feeling really fit. It seems to make a little difference. I guess we will see after the baby comes how my body reacts. Last time I had to work to get rid of every. single. pound. (none of this breast-feeding melts the baby weight off). We'll see.

A big thing going on right is that I got the results from my 3 hour glucose test. I ended up having elevated levels for 1 of 4 blood basically inconclusive. I am using this as an opportunity to brush up my nutrition skills and I am watching my sugar and carb intake for the remainder of my pregnancy. I am not worried since I had these same results when I was pregnant the first time with no issues. I think this is how my body reacts to pregnancy.  I have another appointment tomorrow so we'll see what my midwives say. Here's hoping we're not having an 11 pound sugared up baby.

Happy Thursday!

Amelia: 21 Months

I adore this picture.

21 Months
-Loves "riding" on Goose and reading him books.
-Talking more and more. Still not saying a lot of definitive
words but she is really chatty.
-Enjoys talking on the phone and to her reflection.
-Still sleeping 2 naps everyday and 10-12 hours at night.
-Runs everywhere she goes.
-Starting to play dress up.

As we are approaching Amelia turning two we are starting to see some small changes in her personality. She is still extremely sweet and gives a lot of love but we are also seeing a little bit of tantrums coming out. When I say tantrums I think that she has a lot to learn because it is actually kind of cute. If she doesn't want to do something she basically just lays down wherever we are. A lot of times she just whines and lays face down in protest because she doesn't want to hold my hand. At this point it only makes me laugh. I am sure I will get tired of it especially when there is another kid to manage but for now, her expressing her independence is pretty comical.

Amelia has also entered into a "cheese" phase when taking pictures. She learned how to "say cheese" on our trip to California and it is coming out in almost every picture I take. The best part is that gap tooth really shows when she does it. I am obsessed with a quirky smile.
