Now that I have been doing Insanity for 2 weeks I wanted to do a quick update on my progress. After the first week I was sore sore sore. I didn't see really any changes (as was expected) but I definitely felt that I was working hard. Now after 2 weeks of Insanity I feel a huge difference. I did a little better with each workout, buttoned up a pair of too tight pants with ease, and even got a skinny compliment. Woohoo! Only 2 weeks and it is paying off. In terms of actual wight loss I am still 5lbs up from my pre-pregnancy weight and 15lbs up from my ultimate goal weight but I am feeling very encouraged.
Since I am feeling motivated I figured I would share some tips that have been helping me through the last 3 months and specifically the past 2 weeks.
Stop weighing yourself: I am terrible at stepping on the scale every time I am in the restroom. Now I have limited myself to every other Monday morning. I absolutely cheat sometimes and then feel discouraged so I just need to lay off.
Drink water: I am not much of a soda drinker but I do enjoy the occasional Diet Coke. I have noticed that when I drink it I retain water and feel dehydrated. Since I started the gallon challenge I don't have the bladder capacity to drink soda so I haven't had any. I have noticed a difference specifically in the waist line from replacing the soda with water.
Share your challenges with people: I usually keep everything (and I mean everything) to myself. I have such a huge fear of public failure that I am not big on sharing. That clearly wasn't working for me because I had no one to cheer me on or too help me stay motivated. Now I find myself sharing with everyone because it holds me accountable and people are very encouraging. Last week on Friday I DID NOT want to do the Insanity video. I was so sore and exhausted but knowing that I have people cheering me on got me moving again.
Keep moving: In addition to the videos I have started doing a weekly walking group where we walk for about 4-5 miles pushing our little strollers and hitting every hill along the way. Another thing Brian and I try to do is go on a hike (even short ones) every weekend. I try and say yes to every opportunity to be active.
Get a lot of sleep: This is the toughest one for me! I am a horrible sleeper. I stay up way too late resulting in sleeping in, taking a nap, or a Diet Coke. I have been focused this last week on going to bed earlier and have felt the increase in energy. Yes, I am taking Melatonin (the best) supplements to help me get to bed earlier and it has been working wonders.
Sleep = Energy = Better workouts = Results!
Hopefully I can keep up the workouts and see more results. When I get to my goal weight I will share before and after pictures :)

We have entered the world of teething. Amelia had her two bottom teeth poke through this week. I didn't actually notice (oops) and Brian came home and pointed them out to me. I am not the most observant person, but she did seem a little crabby. She is handling it like a champ, as she does with most things. Let's hope that the rest of the teeth poking through will go as smoothly as the first two.
To change the topic entirely I wanted to talk a little about Georgia. We have been loving our little life here in the south. When we first moved out here we had a bit of an adjustment period. Brian struggled with the no surfing and being away from his brother/bestie and I struggled with being SO far from family. We still miss those things but we have really started to embrace it here. I have always struggled with making friends (I'm a little shy) so I was worried about a totally new culture and fitting in. Well we REALLY lucked out! The area we moved into has the best ward (church talk) that we have been in. There are a ton of young families and there are 8 or 9 babies that are all within 3 months of each other. Amelia falls right in the middle of the babies. We feel so fortunate that this worked out for us. It was as if we had instant friends when we moved here and that really makes being away from family a little more bearable.
Basically I am just grateful for all those that opened their arms and helped up feel welcome out here :)

Its funny, I do this blog every week but I still have hard time remembering what we did all week or if we hit any milestones. I think pregnancy brain just turns into mommy brain but its worse because you have more to remember.
Last week I talked about our biggest loser competition and I have added in another challenge for myself this week. The gallon challenge is going alright. I do really well on weekdays but the weekends are tough having enough water around when we are out and about. The challenge I added this week is that I have started doing Insanity! I got the Insanity DVDs as a gift right after I had Amelia (I wasn't insulted, I asked for them :). I tried doing the program 6 weeks postpartum and that was not happening. I was one power jump away from having to wear adult diapers (sorry...TMI). I tried the program again when Amelia was about 4 months old and after 4 days I still felt that I wasn't in good enough shape to start. Well after 3 months of running I am trying again. I completed day 4 (of 60!) today and I am feeling much better about it this time. Don't get me wrong I am entirely exhausted but I am not as discouraged this go around. Hopefully by posting this challenge on here it will keep me motivated to keep my body moving. Here's to being healthy and bathing suit season :)
This post is a shorty because I have to get back to finishing Amelia's crib. I am on my last coat (of 6!!!!!!!!) and I can not wait to be finished! Hopefully I can post pictures of Amelia's semi-complete room next week.
Last but not least a sweet picture of the Bubbs. One of my earliest memories is sitting on the counter in my PJ's while my dad made breakfast. I can't wait to make these memories with Amelia :)

To say the last 5 years have been an adventure would be an understatement. In our 5 years of marriage so far we have: moved 4 times, lived in 3 different cities, 2 different states, had 8 jobs between us, adopted a dog, made a baby, bought a house, travelled to 3 different countries and 15 states, and that is just to name a few.
I am not a romantic person...at all...so I just wanted to give a little shout out to Brian and the wonderful life we have created together. I am glad we picked each other :)

I did my first 5K this weekend. Yay! It turned out to be a blast and more of a party than a race but we had a great time. The training did pay off because I felt great the whole time. As a group we stayed together and did a jog/walk pace. I would recommend the Color Run as a first 5K for anyone interested in getting into races. After this and the Disneyland 1/2, I think I am only signing up for fun races. Way easier to run a race when you're having a party.
On Sunday Brian and I decided that we needed to break in our new hiking backpack. We packed the baby and the Goosey and headed over to Kennesaw Mountain. We ended up doing around 5 miles of hiking over the mountain on the trails. Amelia loves her new ride.
We brought Goose who was immediately exhausted. Poor fur ball. It is going to be a rough summer for our Goose.

We love having active weekends over here at the Yoast house. It's a good time to update you on our Yoast Biggest Loser Challenge. We are working hard with not huge changes. Slowly but surely we will get there. As of today (8 weeks in) Brian has lost 10 lbs and I am down 7lbs. I wont be making my 12 week goal but we are in the right direction. I have a lot of areas that I can improve on. I am doing really good with working out but my diet could still use work as well as my water intake. I am tackling my water intake today! I have started a gallon challenge to try and drink 16 cups of water everyday. Since I have kidney stone issues anyway this is not only gonna help it is kinda necessary. Only 12 bathroom breaks today...we are on the way!

This week we have been relaxing and recovering from our trip to Richmond. I have piles of laundry to do and not a lot of motivation to do it. Do you every have those days? I feel like I need a swift kick in the behind to get all my chores done this week. Nothing like 12 hours in the car one way with a baby to drain you of all your energy. The crazy part is that Amelia is a little peach in the car but it is still exhausting. I can't imagine how it would be if she had been crabby.
Last week before our trip we went in to do our taxes. When we were about finished the accountant was inputting Amelia's information and then asked for her Social Security number. My face must have turned bright red.....we never applied for her Social! Best mom award right here. When she was born they asked if we wanted to do it at the hospital but we said no because we were moving and didn't have a forwarding address. Well here we are 7 months later and I was so embarrassed. Luckily I did have her birth certificate and immunizations so it only took a few days to get her number. Honestly, there are so many days where I feel that I really could use a manual for having a baby.
Speaking of manuals I am glad I took that infant CPR class last summer. Like I said above, we did our first finger sweep on Amelia. At our friends house I was feeding her dinner (zucchini and carrots) and somehow she started choking. I was confused at first since it was just pureed food but there must have been a clump because she was fully choking. There was no sound coming out and no coughing, she was just staring at me terrified. It was a moment that you know is going to happen you just don't know when. I thought I would panic but I reached my finger in there and pulled out that clump of baby food and that was that. Amelia of course was still terrified and started screaming but the scream is welcome after the choking. Obviously Amelia is perfectly fine and I am glad that the moment that parents dread is behind us. I know she will probably choke again but I feel comfortable that I can handle it.
This post is really random but that is how I feel this week. The house is a mess, Amelia's nap time is off, and I had Diet Coke for breakfast so whatever. Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!
